The idea for this quilt came from a workshop I took with Tara Faughnan at my very first QuiltCon in 2022. We were challenged to construct high-contrast and low-contrast hourglass blocks, using block placement to create interest in the design. For this piece, I decided to make large, improvisationally-pieced, 2-color blocks, inspired by the dovetail joints used in woodworking. The result feels bold and playful, so I added quilting lines that echo the quirky design.
