At the Madeline Island School of the Arts, Malka Dubrawsky shared her direct dye application process for students to make ombre fabric. In the next step, Irene Roderick encouraged improvisation to imagine and sew patchwork designs with ombre fabrics. To finish, Carson Converse inspired us to draft our own stitching designs, emphasizing the importance of thread color and density. The week was loaded with intuition and invention leading to the creation of many unique works.
