I’ve found the concept of negative space somewhat difficult to grasp at times, and some of my past quilts in this category probably didn’t really belong. Breakthrough is my attempt to get it right – to make a design that balances positive and negative space, using colour to play with the push and pull of light and dark. The name describes the design itself and how I felt after finishing it.
