Required Supplies: - small embroidery hoop (5-7 inches preferred) - light-medium colored scrap of fabric (8-10 inches square), solid recommended - 2 or more embroidery needles (bring more than one just in case) - dark embroidery floss (should contrast with fabric). Larua likes DMC - small scissors to cut floss - hera marker - small ruler to mark fabric, 6-8 inches - fine tipped chalk pencil (Larua likes Bohin) - regular pencil (either wood or mechanical)
Optional Supplies: - More pieces of fabric to experiment with (different colors, prints) - Various colors and brands of embroidery floss - Note taking supplies (paper, pen, ipad, etc)
Prep Requirements: Please cut fabric into 8-10" squares so you are ready to jump into embroidery
In this hand-sewing workshop, students will use their own handwriting as a template for embroidering text on any project. Techniques for block print, upper and lower case, and cursive will all be presented. Some embroidery experience is recommended for best success in this workshop.
