In this no-sew, all-design workshop, David will guide students through a series of exercises to build your skill and confidence with machine (and hand!) quilting design. Start small and simple with drawing exercises that go from simple to more complex. Overlay printed quilt designs with tracing paper and use colored pens to plan out your designs. Understand how to approach modern machine and hand quilting from a functional perspective as well as with an eye on design and understand how to be more economical with your time as you work on the quilting. Build your confidence by practicing a few simple design techniques that can be applied to any quilt. Students will bring an 8.5 x 11 photo of an unquilted top, and David will guide you through the steps to develop a quilting plan for your specific design! At the end of the workshop, students will have a clear set of design ideas for modern quilting and be ready to approach their next quilting project with confidence.
