One of the best parts of improv quilting is not knowing how the finished quilt will look. Often, the blocks know where they want to go and just need some space to tell their story. In this design workshop, Allie will guide students through the process of letting the blocks speak, using off the grid assembly methods to piece blocks of multiple sizes and shapes into a cohesive quilt top. Students will learn how to look at movement and balance over a quilt top while learning how to use partial seams, knowing when to add fabric to allow blocks to visually breathe in the design, and how to design their quilt top after the blocks have already been made. This is a no-sew workshop.
