Prep Requirements: You can cut the fabric as you go but it is handy to have a few cut prior to the class to get going promptly. The basis of the class is to sew fabrics together by side length, not colour matching.
Free style patchwork is a form of improvisational piecing allowing your fabrics to decide where they should be pieced to make the best of them. It takes out the guessing game of choosing the right fabrics to go together. It is a great way of using up scraps from other projects, or using those extra special pieces you have been saving for just the right project. Students will be matching piecing up by size and not color, building on each block as it grows, rather than color combinations. The key to bringing the colors into balance is choosing the fabrics itself with a highlight accent to make that spark. Trust your instincts, this piece is designed for you so if you are happy with the color palette than your job is done. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
