NOTE: THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Working with collage as a practice can help strengthen color and composition skills in a low-pressure way. This hands-on 2D collage class will begin by having students generate a variety of hand printed and painted papers quickly to use in class. From there, we will cut shapes to build collage compositions from the papers we have made. Cutting shapes and forms the same way we would in fabric allows for easy experimentation and a way to iterate quickly without sewing. The ideas & skills gained by making collages can serve as wonderful beginnings to quilts and other future art pieces. Participants are encouraged to bring paper and fabric scraps to class to use and share which makes for more interesting, textural art explorations. This is a no sew workshop.
