Required Supplies: - An assortment of coordinating fabrics, ideally some solids and some prints. Approximately 6 FQ worth. You can choose one solid and then a variety of prints to coordinate with it, or a few pairs of solid + print couplings. Definitely scrap-friendly, with scraps larger than approx 6"" square! - Rotary cutter, small mat, and quilting ruler with a 1/4” measure. If you have a small mat to put next to your machine, that will save time during the workshop! Shared supplies will also be provided if you can not travel with these items. - Scissors with a sharp point for cutting fabric - Washable glue with a thin applicator tip (Roxanne Glue Baste It works well, so does Elmers washable school glue if you get a very thin applicator tip for the bottle) - Seam ripper - (we’ll hope we don't need it, but when learning, it’s always good to have a BFF seam ripper handy!) - Pins
Optional Supplies: Notebook and writing tool for taking notes
Learn a handful of improv techniques while sewing blocks that could represent various moments or adventures in life. Kitty will teach how to piece improv Xs, gentle improv curves, improv inset strips, and inset circles, as well as many applications for how to include the design elements in your own quilt blocks. Discussion will include thoughts on the symbology that can be applied to various designs, and how one could create improv quilts that represent life. Sewing machines generously provided by event sponsors!
