A winter walk in frozen conditions inspired this quilt. Throughout the design process the winter solstice came to mind. It marks the 24-hour period with the fewest daylight hours of the year in the northern hemisphere, the shortest day or the longest night. It has been celebrated by many different cultures around the world for centuries. It’s about new beginnings, rituals, celebrations and the rebirth of the sun, it’s a triumph of light over dark.
