“Ope, the all-purpose expression of Midwestern politeness.” OPE is a spoof of the 1962 pop art classic, OOF by Edward Ruscha. Like the inspiration, OPE uses a single word to convey the culture of an entire generation, or in this case, region. Also, like the original, it is infused with humor. This is especially funny if you know and love a Midwesterner who says "Ope"!
