I designed these blocks with transparency in mind, with "overlapping" petal shapes implying a sense of layers of transparent fabric with light shining through. I also love using symmetry in my designs so I positioned the four identical blocks so that the purply-pink petals are aligned at the centre of the quilt drawing your eye towards the single cornerstone square. I quilted each petal using a coordinating thread colour mimicking the shape of each petal.
