Working from figures has always been the basis of my quilting. Using paper as a starting point, I create collages that can be blended to become other shapes. Sometimes I use the lines of the figures with a light background to emphasize the shape. Other times, I use the shape as a light-colored figure, creating a reversal of color. Once shapes are placed, the resulting background becomes a playground, creating new surprise figures.
