The Road to California quilt block is used to create a unique special effect. The smallest block is in the center of the quilt, and the block sizes radiate outward to the largest blocks being on the four corners. It’s as if those “California Roads” are leading to infinity. The gravity of the center block draws the eye inward like the center of a Black Hole, which is appropriately enough named a “Singularity”.
