Using the Butterfly as a metaphor for physical transformation and creating improvisationally, I pieced this quilt without a sketch or pattern. I needed the ability to solve and struggle with making decisions about the fabric, thread and eventual quilting in the moment of creating. This quilt needed to be unique in every way, just like the people whose lives I am honoring. Metamorphosis won top honors in the Modern Quilt Guilds Pollinator Challenge, Summer 2024.
