My express goal in designing this quilt was to come up with a midcentury modern design. And instead what I ended up with seems to be a 1980s art deco interpretation of the city of Atlantis from the television Stargate series. I used oval templates designed by the wonderful Jenny Hayes of Papper Sax Sten. I made up the quilting design as I went along, which (like life) was an exercise in solving self-manufactured problems.
