Original concept and design inspired by the 2024 invasion of Cicadas which emerge every 17 years. Used variegated thread on the wings to create translucent effect, then darker thread to provide definition around each cell. The background quilting depicts the sound waves these creatures emit. Submitted with the encouragement of the women in my family who's artistry and quilting skills far surpass mine. Love to my "Soggy Bottom Girls"
