This textile collage explores the spaces between compliment and criticism. Between rough and smooth. Between dark and light. Between dissonance and harmony. The repeated ampersand shape suggests a constant cycle of considering multiple possibilities. The purple shapes are inspired by a watercolor exercise with wet brush repeatedly pressed onto paper. I’m eager to replicate with fabric and stitch the textures, layers and transparency often seen in paintings.
